The Watercourse at Daybreak
The Watercourse will be the open space centerpiece of the Upper Villages at Daybreak. It is a mile-long waterway of ponds, cascades and canals designed to provide a variety of activities to area residents and visitors. In contrast to Oquirrh Lake, the Watercourse will provide a more intimate water experience. Homes will be close to the water and everyone in the Villages will have access to it. Sand and pebble beaches along with wooden docks will provide landing areas for paddleboards, canoes and kayaks. Trails, boardwalks and sidewalks will follow the water and provide places for strolling, biking and blading. The Cove, a community center located on The Watercourse, will provide places for weddings, outdoor concerts, big family gatherings. Beaches and a large playground will also be located there. In addition to recreational activities, The Watercourse also plays an important role in stormwater management of the Villages. Water captured in the system will be circulated through a series of bioswales which will serve to clean and aerate the water. Surplus stormwater will be infiltrated into the ground through multiple means to help recharge the underground aquifer.
