Firefly Park
Firefly Park is a multi-functional, 1.35-acre neighborhood park located in the Daybreak new community in South Jordan, Utah. The park is designed to serve a variety of users and recreational functions while acting as a stormwater capture and infiltration location for the surrounding streets and community. Recreational opportunities include rope swings, steppers, a log climber and the iconic lime-green, 25’-foot tall Jupiter climbing structure. The upper infiltration basin is planted with wetland tolerant plants recalling local marshes while the lower basin functions as a small play field with goals that accommodate a variety of small-scale competitive games. Shaded boulders provide informal seating for parents watching their children play. Cantilevered decks outfitted with picnic tables and overhead lighting create gathering areas for families and neighborhood residents throughout the year. The infiltration basins can capture up to 61,000 cubic feet of stormwater at any one time. All captured stormwater is infiltrated into the ground through the use of dry wells located under each basin.
