Daybreak Greenbelt Prototypes
The Greenbelts at Daybreak are designed to provide an interconnected network of cyclist and pedestrian-oriented corridors that increase access to and connectivity with community-wide amenities and destinations. They provide attractive alternatives to driving and encourage residents and visitors to get outside and to exercise. Communities with convenient and easy access to open space boast higher rates of physical activity, improved mental well-being and higher quality of life for its residents.
Greenbelts also integrate natural landscape elements into the built environment. They provide a unifying aesthetic character that links disparate neighborhoods together while performing important functional roles such as habitats for urban wildlife, urban heat island reduction, increased CO2 absorption and carbon sequestration through tree plantings and providing stormwater filtration, cleansing and infiltration into underground aquifers. Incorporating stormwater functions into public landscape systems lowers the demands on and costs of public utility infrastructure systems and allows those savings to be reinvested in other community improvements. Lastly, greenbelts add economic value to the community by elevating quality of life and creating beautiful and desirable places to live which in turn result in high initial market demand, elevated resale values over time and the creation of long-term community value.
