Olafson Residence

The Olafson Residence is located in the foothills above Salt Lake City, Utah. An existing pool and spa were replaced and relocated. The new pool is aligned with the main axis and front door of the home and is visible through large glass walls from the entry. The spa aligns with the glass doors of the interior exercise room. The modern geometry of the pool deck and landscapes matches the modern architecture of the home. Board-form concrete walls contain formal landscape plantings, lawn areas and the pool deck and provide a clear delineation between the man-made and the natural. A staircase through the walls ends at a trail that leads into the Gambel oak-covered foothills.
